Time flies when you’re in the startup world and it’s already time for another edition of The Factory Noticeboard. Here’s our overview of startup news, events and information that caught our attention last week.
Maven has completed a £2.15 million investment in Boiler Plan, a market disruptive platform that sells, installs and services boilers. The business provides an innovative online platform (boilerplanuk.com) for the purchase of a new boiler.
Miribase Limited, the company behind the Shopblocks e-commerce platform, has secured a £300,000 investment from Dow Schofield Watts Angels, the Northern angel network. The Shopblocks platform provides a hosted website and online shop solution for SMEs.
Bruntwood and Legal & General Capital have created a partnership to help technology companies start up and scale up in regions of the UK including Manchester. Both partners have invested £360m to form a new company, Bruntwood SciTech. It’s business aim: to drive industry growth in the northern regions. The company hopes to create 20,000 high-value science and tech jobs and will pour millions into tech incubators.
And finally we’re living in a golden era of innovation, says Ashwini Anburajan in this TED talk, but venture capital hasn’t evolved to keep up. In this quick talk, she shares the story of how her company became part of an entirely new way to raise capital, using the powers of cryptocurrency.
