After a successful ‘StartUp Stories’ event on Friday (video coming soon!), it’s about time for another edition of The Factory Noticeboard. Here’s our roundup of startup news, events and information that caught our eyes last week.

After the recent decline in cryptocurrencies have continued their volatility, spiking over the weekend, although falling back this morning.

Amazon is continuing to develop its line of Alexa smart home devices to become even more integrated into our lives – including an Alexa enabled microwave and an in-car gadget to rival Apple’s Car-Play.

Fintech Cleo, a financial digital assistant, has been attracting a lot of attention and has picked up $10 million in series A funding.

Vodafone has decided to open up an Innovation Hub right here in Manchester. This hub based at The Landing will give UK businesses, start-ups and tech innovators access to 5G, Internet Of Things, high-speed fibre and the very best technical resources available.

Rumours have begun to circulate that Uber is looking to buy Deliveroo. It will be interesting to see how this will affect their own competitor to Deliveroo – Uber Eats.

If you want to build a team of innovative problem-solvers, you should value the humanities just as much as the sciences. Eric Berridge discusses how people with backgrounds in the arts and humanities can bring creativity and insight to technical workplaces in this TED Talk.
